My customFIT Personal Training Philosophy . . .

It is unwise to train the bicep muscles (agonist) without ever training the tricep muscles (antagonist). If you do this, you will develop muscle imbalance. Similarly, input is as important as output, if not more so: Nutrition is essential to achieving your fitness goal, whether it be weight loss or strength training. To me, it's all about balance and holistic, or whole body, training.  

Just like muscular training, I like to look at each side of the person. I take a holistic approach to training. I'm not concerned solely with your outer appearance, though that may be the primary reason you seek me out as your personal trainer.      

So, before we TRAIN:

I will ask you several questions and put you through a series of tests to check your current fitness ability. I'm going to ask you what you hope to accomplish and why. I may push back on some of your goals and push you to dig a little deeper in some areas you may have not considered in a long time. I'm going to push you beyond your comfort zone in each category so you have the best success at achieving your goals. Next, we will develop a plan together that we both agree upon and possibly even write out in contract form. Since I (as your trainer) am only capable of so much, I will need you to show up and put in the effort to achieve your goals. I want you to be fully committed and on board; therefore, I will have you sign a Waiver & Release Form and also complete a Readiness and Commitment Survey that includes a statement like this;

 

I, ______________, commit to the agreed upon plan set before me over a period of ____________. I will not quit, even when I get tired and want to give up. I will endure the training under the advice of my trainer, Bekah Self.

Let's TRAIN: 

Once you are ready to start training with me, and after we have agreed upon a timeline and plan, I will most likely encourage you to do exercises known as Total Body Conditioning, which means the exercise may use or require little or no equipment. My goal is for you to find exercises to do on your own or with a friend. After a warm-up, I will lead you into a variety of exercises that will work the front, back, upper and lower parts of your body. After teaching proper form, I will encourage you towards High Intensity Interval Training and Functional Training. With these forms of training done properly, weight loss, hearth health and muscular development can be accomplished.
